Solar Eclipse in Aquarius: What You Can Expect
We interrupt your regularly scheduled program...
Buckle up, friends. We’ve reached the first eclipse of 2026, and this one is a big fucking deal. It’s a Solar Eclipse at 28° Aquarius, exact this Tuesday, February 17. Note that we’re briefly dipping out of Virgo/Pisces eclipse land and onto a new sign axis. We’re also firmly in eclipse season, a turbulent time of year when life tends to feel a little, ahem… topsy-turvy.
Here’s everything you need to know, including where this eclipse energy is showing up in your life and grounded advice for navigating the next few weeks.
On February’s Solar Eclipse in Aquarius (28°)
Change is in the air. Eclipses occur in pairs twice a year and trigger fated events in our lives, sometimes subtly, sometimes overtly. They’re synced up to the movements of the North and South Nodes over ~1.5-year increments. You can think of eclipses as plot points in a longer story. They fast-track the inevitable, reminding us that when one door closes in life, another one opens.
This Solar Eclipse in particular looks pretty damn disruptive. It’s aspecting Mars and Uranus, two planets that spark action and change; it’s ruled by Saturn, which just switched signs and is mere days away from a rare conjunction with Neptune at 0° Aries (maybe you’ve heard?) That binds it to February’s revolutionary astrology. And it’s the first eclipse in years on the Leo/Aquarius axis, turning the page on a new storyline of fated change in your life that will continue unfolding until 2028.
Like I said, buckle up!
In short, this is a supercharged New Moon, colored by the distinct “new era” energy of this Saturn-Neptune moment, but not the kind I’d recommend ritualizing or manifesting with. We don’t harness the energy of eclipses, per se; we flow with them. This time of year tasks us with observing and embracing change, even if it stirs up feelings of anxiety or discomfort.
This Solar Eclipse asks, where is disruption or innovation needed? And what are you going to do about it?
Something is shifting in the Aquarius house in your birth chart. Expect a breakthrough that pulls you in a radically different or unexpected direction. That may involve Aquarian themes like a desire to break the mold, an increased sense of responsibility to the collective, or the urge to shake things up because a system in your life is overdue for an upgrade.
Remember, this eclipse is also the beginning of a longer nodal story. If nothing eventful happens now, it may become clear later in the year that something important was set into motion around this time. All of the above will be loudest for anyone with placements between 25-28° of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius).
Your eclipse season checklist:
Study up on your Aquarius house. The area of life it represents is where you’re being pushed to shake up the status quo. I’ve listed out the topics associated with this part of your chart for every Rising sign below. For additional context, consider their interplay with the themes of the Aries house in your chart. It’s part of the story here too.
Stay flexible and open-minded. The few weeks surrounding eclipses often feel unusually hectic or disorienting, almost like life is moving at 2x speed. If you’re struggling to keep up or see the bigger picture, you’re not alone. A healthy dose of Aquarian detachment is good medicine for this moment.
Don’t over-schedule yourself. Seriously. Since eclipses involve the Sun and Moon, the life-giving luminaries that represent our vitality and emotional state, they can be rough on the body. From now through early March, make rest and self-care your top priorities — doubly so if you’re a Cancer Rising, Leo Rising, or currently in a solar or lunar profection year.
Maybe, just maybe, embrace the radical potential of this paradigm-shifting astrology? Change can be hard, but it can also be exciting. Invigorating. Liberating, even.
