On Capricorn Season and Embracing Slowness
Good things take time.
š ICYMI: I appeared on this weekās episode of the Earth Body podcast with Kate Douglas to discuss the New Moon in Sagittarius. I loved our conversation about the importance of research and discernment when seeking out teachers and mentors, especially in the context of reproductive health. Listen here.
Happy Winter Solstice, friends! Welcome to Capricorn season. Iām writing to you on the eve of the solstice from my home in Brooklyn. My gremlin dog is sound asleep at my feet, snoring loudly.
Iāve spent this chill afternoon alternating between chipping away at this newsletter and planning a small solstice gathering with friends. I wanted to bring my people together to bid farewell to this heavy-ass year and welcome in 2026. I wonāt lie, thereās a sense of urgency in the air right now. Mars is in Capricorn too; the āmad dash to the finish lineā energy is palpable.
But here I am, drinking my water. Curating my cozy party playlist. Doing my best to pace myself and stay present. And that, my friends, is what we call growth.
A quick astronomy lesson: The Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year here in the northern hemisphere. From this point on, daylight hours will progressively lengthen until we reach the Summer Solstice in June. Longer days are coming, slowly but surely.
We live in an era defined by instant gratification, but Capricorn season is a reminder that good things often take time. This is one of Saturnās domiciles, a sign associated with patience, austerity, and legacy-building.
In my journey of recovering from burnout, Iāve spent the latter half of this year deprogramming the parts of my brain that tell me I need to move faster, work harder, be better. Itās slow, humbling, Saturnian work, the kind that invariably mirrors back to me my own fraught relationship with hustle culture. It also forced me to be realistic about my capacity and take a step back from creative projects I care about, like this newsletter.
I know for a fact that Iām not the only person who had a challenging year. I donāt have any Capricorn season horoscopes for you today, just one humble suggestion: Treat your winter break like a true break. Embrace the restorative slowness of the colder months. Surround yourself with loved ones, creative comforts, and whatever helps you recharge as we transition into 2026. Weāve got an action-packed year ahead of us1. The more you rest now, the more ready youāll feel to hit the ground running in January.
Iāve got an announcement in the works about the future of this newsletter, which will go live in a few weeks ā but for now, Iām going to take my own advice and log the fuck off.
Wishing you all a peaceful Winter Solstice and holiday season. And thank you for being here, from the bottom of my heart. I love writing about astrology, and I canāt wait to do more of it in 2026.
More on that soon ;)
